What Is Hangxiety?
Hangxiety is the anxious, on-edge feeling that can follow drinking - hangover plus anxiety - and it's a common body response, not a personal failing.
The simple answer
Alcohol can make you feel calm while you drink. As it wears off, your brain swings back the other way, and that swing can feel like worry, dread or regret the next day. You can get hangxiety even without a headache or nausea. Lots of people get it, and it says nothing bad about who you are.
Myth vs Fact
Feeling anxious after drinking means something is wrong with you.
Anxiety is on the NIH's list of typical hangover symptoms. It's a known response to alcohol leaving your system, and it usually passes.
